flo's how to build your own cutting machine
-------------------------------------------------------------->
part 1: the super low cost cutter
hey..... you ever thought about building your own
cutting machine and saving thousands of dollars?
if you really want.... do it here is a step by step guide to build a
cutting machine for 5 bucks......maybe you can approve it a little
bit...but it works...without electricity....but first eat a
yoghurt....I did that with a school class during practical physic
lessons......
ok.... what you need is:
-piece of wood about 5x10 inch...
-empty yoghurt or water cup
-round piece of wood in your preferred diameter..(7/10/12Inch)
-a couple of screws
-a drilling machine
-a carpet knife blade
-some bits and pieces of wood similar on the pictures
-tape, glue..usual stuff to build a cutting lathe
------------------------------------------------>
here is the mechanics.... if you have a loud voice or a 300 watt
fender amp its maybe already loud enough...
and if you prefer not only to record locked grooves....maybe a
feedscrew would be nice...
also it take a long time to practice to let the turntable run at 33 1/3
rpm... but I also made succesful test with a
toshiba direct drive turntable... but then you need already
electricity....

if you think you wanna play the plate at a party... lets amplify:

here you can see the HI-FI cutter head....
I never tried out to make a stereo-version.....Hmmmm maybe with two
cups of yoghurt....
let me know if you manage to cut stereo....
but anyway the carpet-cutterblade is used instead of a
saphire...sometimes its a little bit tricky to adjust the right cutting
angle....

here some more or less sucessful cutting engineers:

any reports about succes or no success would be appreciated....i'm
more than happy to publish your cutter picture as well.also soundfiles
would be great
